Our CEO, Ángel Alberich-Bayarri, and CMO, Glen Weiss, MD, MBA, attended these days the 38th Annual Meeting & Pre-Conference Programs, #SITC2023. Deeply involved in the scientific, developmental and practical aspects of #cancer immunology and #immunotherapy, this was the perfect opportunity to network with professionals and experts in the field. Through collaborative efforts and seamless integration, we strive to contribute to the transformative progress envisioned
What if we measure the carbon footprint of our #AImodels? Our CEO Ángel Alberich-Bayarri argues in this article for European Hospital that, while the usage of #deeplearning algorithms for positive purposes is increasing, we cannot ignore the carbon footprint created when we train a deep learning model. Also, Ana Jiménez Pastor, VP of AI at Quibim, delves on the social angle of #AI and how the automation of image interpretation could address the global shortage of radiologists, especially in lower-middle-income countries. 🌸 With the end of October, #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth concludes. We can't stress enough the importance of #EarlyDetection and its important research insights. MRI screening has emerged as an indispensable tool for the early detection of invasive #breastcancer, particularly in high-risk individuals. A meticulous study by Ghuman et al. (from 50 screen-detected breast cancers in 47 women identified between 2016-2022) has shed light on the characteristics and outcomes of MRI-screen-detected breast cancers. 💡 Key Findings: - 64% of the total cancers detected were invasive. Pathology unveiled various types: 36% DCIS, 52% Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC), 10% Invasive Lobular Carcinoma, and 2% Angiosarcoma. - A significant 91% of patients were diagnosed at stage 0 or 1, with no breast cancer-related deaths reported during follow-up periods. 95.7% of patients showed no evidence of disease during an average follow-up of 33 months. - Cancers manifested as masses in 50% of cases, nonmass enhancement in 48%, and a focus in 2%. DCIS predominantly presented as nonmass enhancement (94.4%). 🏥 Clinical Implications: Understanding the predominant imaging features of breast cancers found on screening #MRI enables radiologists to make more accurate diagnoses. Let's spread the word and encourage our network to prioritize regular screenings and stay informed about the advancements in breast cancer research! 🔗 Read the full study here: https://bit.ly/45VD0r5
