Today commemorates the day in 1865 when federal troops freed the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Our team members shared what this day means to them: “Having the opportunity to share about Juneteenth with others, especially in the community where the holiday originated, feels like progress.
