Celebrating Women's History Month; Meet Inga Inga, Chief Medical Officer of Atrium Health, West Area, demonstrates a steadfast commitment to excellence and a passion for empowering women in health care. Her journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, followed by a Doctorate of Medicine and culminated with a Master of Health Administration. As the first female chief resident in the history of the emergency medicine program at Atrium Health Wake Forest, Inga has shattered stereotypes throughout her career. "For me, health care was a natural calling," Inga reflects. Diversity and inclusion lie at the heart of Inga's philosophy. Her involvement with Atrium Health's Women's Executive Leadership Group (WELG) and ASPIRE program have allowed her to actively promote diversity, equity and inclusion within the organization. Celebrating Women's History Month; Meet Denise A compassionate and dedicated RN, Denise began her nursing career in Alabama in 1982, where she spent 6 years before joining her brother and parents in Charlotte, NC. She began working as a Labor and Delivery Staff Nurse at Charlotte Memorial Hospital until completing her MSN and joining Atrium Health a few years later. Denise's upbringing and love for math and science led her to health care. "My parents instilled in me the importance of hard work, community service, and enjoying what you do," she shares. "Nursing felt like the perfect fit." As Women's History Month unfolds, Denise reflects on the remarkable strides women have made in health care. "In the past forty years, I've witnessed women rise to leadership positions and excel in areas that were once inaccessible," she notes with pride. Atrium Health's commitment to recognizing women's achievements shines through its robust mentoring programs. "We have a network of incredible leaders who mentor and guide other women along their journey, fostering professional growth and development," she says. For Denise, diversity is not just a buzzword, it's the cornerstone of effective health care. "We need individuals with different backgrounds and perspectives to provide holistic care," she asserts. "Diversity enriches our ability to fulfill our mission of health, hope, and healing for all."

Celebrating Women's History Month; Meet Crecia Crecia, Assistant Vice President Perioperative Services, began her career as a floor nurse. Demonstrating leadership skills that caught the attention of her mentors, she worked her way up to the Operating Room, where she embraced the opportunity to expand her skills and knowledge. For Crecia, health care is not just a profession, it is a deeply-rooted calling from her desire to make a difference. Her journey underscores the importance of Women's History Month and adds to the indelible contributions women have made across time. "It reminds us to be the example for the generations of young girls coming behind us," Crecia says. "I want to see them grow and develop into strong, independent and confident women that will continue to lead." At Atrium Health, Crecia found not only a supportive environment but also a platform to pursue her educational aspirations without the burden of student loans. "When I started, I had my associate degree. With educational assistance and loan forgiveness, I have been able to obtain my BSN and MBA without any student loans or debt.
