We want to address this feedback directly, because while some of it reflects real frustration, there are also a few points that need clarification. We know that periods of change can affect trust, morale, and how people experience their work. That impact is not lost on us, and we understand why this moment feels difficult for some teams.
We want to clarify a few things.
We’ve never described our culture as “a family.” We’re a private company that believes in team success, shared accountability, and respect for the work people do. We aim to create an environment where ideas are heard, craft is valued, skills continue to grow, and people are solving meaningful problems together.
Since founding, we’ve operated as a hybrid company. What has changed is our hiring focus and expectations for employees who live near one of our hubs. For those teams, we now ask for in-office collaboration three days a week to support stronger connection and collaboration. This change was communicated well in advance, with 5–9 months’ notice, to give people time to plan and adjust.
We acknowledge the impact of layoffs and benefit changes. Even when decisions are made with long-term stability in mind, they can still feel sudden and unsettling. We hear the feedback about transparency and accountability, and we know there’s more work to do to rebuild trust.
We appreciate the recognition of the talent across the company. The people here matter deeply, and feedback like this helps us understand where we need to be clearer, more consistent, and more thoughtful in how we communicate and lead.
