Let's see, where should I start. Work life balance? Nope. I don't know how others get their WLB from. They're probably not in engineering. I know for a fact that it's a big FAT lie. Don't be surprised if you get messaged late at night for trivial things like: "Hey, how come your bug fix A isn't working in staging?"
I had a very negative compensation review experience with my manager. We had an agreed upon increase but my actual increase was way lower than promised. Very disappointing. I also know a couple recent hires who were promised managerial positions got positioned as individual contributors as a result of team re-shuffling.
Apparently, after talking to my colleagues, this bait-and-switch strategy is not uncommon.
Measly stock options and compensation. You are expected to work hard until late night and on weekends, but don't expect that you are going to be rewarded for it.
Overall, I wish I had not joined this organization.
