Ventajas

A lot of the pros that were once offered by Tire Rack have slowly been mutilated by the acquisition made by Discount Tire. We still have a spiff program, we still get opportunities to win some pretty great travel opportunities through sales contests, and our employee discount is pretty amazing. The wellness team and what they do for the company is actually pretty awesome. There's weekly food truck offerings for those of us in office. HR does seem to care, but sometimes seem like they may be shackled by the corporate structure.

Desventajas

Since Discount Tire took over: I don't care how much they say it or try to imply it, it is not a big happy family. It is fractured and cold. Lower pay through reduced commission percentages and redirection of orders submitted through the website that contain issues or information that needs verified. These are now being handled by hourly employees that have not been trained to appropriately recommend, find, or sell alternative products or services, all in the name of not having to pay commission. Reduced pay due to higher insurance costs for lesser coverage. PTO time was given in bulk previously, its now an accrual program, so keeping track of what you have available is a bit of a pain. This one may just be a me-problem as I've never understood telling someone you get this much time off, but you have to earn it. Seemingly preferential treatment towards employees that were recruits from Discount Tire. At one point in time, we catered primarily to upper end clientele. We now seem to seek bottom of the barrel clients offering them "close-out" tires at major discounts and low-cost, low-tier products. Discount Tire offers a military discount, but they've been in charge of Tire Rack since the end of 2021, and we're still not able to extend that same courtesy to the fine people that have served or are currently serving our Country. There was little transparency before, but there's absolutely none now. Issues presented to management, if you can even figure out what the chain of command is now, thanks to job titles and descriptions changing as often as most peoples' underwear, are met with AI-like responses. Working remotely wasn't an issue previously, but Discount Tire has a hard-on for keeping people in the office, so that's not an option any longer if you weren't already established at home. They've introduced a closing percentage requirement without incentivizing it in any way other than "you get to keep your job" rationalizing that the higher your closing percentage is, the more money you make, which would make sense if the closing percentage numbers were calculated based on real data, and if people at the top of the list in closing percentage weren't in the middle or low end of the pack for total earnings. Chances of improving your position from retail sales are slim to none. You can side step or step back, but opportunities to improve are slim.

Ventajas

One of the biggest pro I think I have for Tire Rack was when I was hired in they hired me as a remote employee, and that I also got to travel the country.

Desventajas

Pay is low for the position I was in with the education and certification I held. Work life balance wasn't there. No extra compensation for being on-call for this company. Senior level management has no clue what they are doing nor do they listen to those that do. They just kept hiring people which didn't really give you enough work to fill the day. They hired based on personality not technical abilities. All the new hire I saw in my department were morons. Most of the people on my direct team including my supervisor were good people and I enjoyed working with them but the department as a hole was terrible.
