There's a real competitive streak and the spirit of bringing an 'A' game on par with much bigger shops. 5. Creative strategy is highly valued here. 6. The team is super friendly and respectful. 7. Sponge is very prompt to reimburse -- looking at you, big slow agencies.

Look, if you're the type who likes to contribute to and shape projects vs being dictated to, you'll enjoy working here. If you prefer to just show up and get your marching orders in the traditional agency sense, then a start-up 'go-get-it' atmosphere is not for you.

As a freelancer, my hours were and rate were fair, and I was treated friendly by the other employees. As it was a small office, it was easy to get to know everyone.

Despite the amount of face time I had with management, I was under-utilized. At the same time, projects I did receive were accompanied by vague instructions, which resulted in more hours of work and rework. Not a problem for me as a freelancer, but a little frustrating and very inefficient.
