Old Boys' (and Girls') Club mentality. If you're not "in" then you are constantly at risk. If you are "in" then you can waste a tremendous amount of company time and money.
Implantable portion of product relies upon a dodgy software layer that disallows the developer from using basic tools to test its safety. Speaking up against this layer has cost several people their jobs. Feels Stalinistic.
