Ventajas

- Competitive salary and benefits - Asynchronous culture

Desventajas

This company, with its abysmal work environment, is a breeding ground for misery. The interview process alone is a marathon of frustration, dragging on with unnecessary complexity. Once inside, prepare to be bounced around like a pinball, switching teams and managers as if they were disposable commodities. Navigating the murky waters of unclear roles and expectations is a given, and don't even bother offering feedback because it falls on deaf ears. The leadership is not just uninspiring; it's downright demeaning. Public assumptions is a regular occurrence, as your faults accused as "entitlement" are paraded in front of your peers. Meetings are not a means to an end but rather a black hole where productivity dwindles into oblivion. The CEO occasionally graces the workspace, not to lead but to indulge in a bit of ego-stroking by taking on tasks that are better left to the employees. If you're unlucky, you might find yourself forcefully placed in a role that doesn't align with your skills, a thinly veiled attempt to set you up for failure. Surviving your first week is a feat, especially when layoffs strike like lightning, and the axe swings two more times throughout the year. Morale takes a nosedive, and the company's future looks as bleak as its leadership. Toxicity pervades the culture, with favoritism reigning supreme. Top Engineers frequently exhibit workaholic behavior, essentially making it a de facto requirement. Only the high-output engineers receive praise, creating a hostile atmosphere that pushes others to work at an unsustainable pace. Microaggressions rain down from the executive level, pressuring management to perpetuate a culture of fear. The belief of the CEO that everyone should code is not just unrealistic but absurd, rendering non-developers as supposedly worthless entities. In the chaos of disorganized goals and a desperate scramble to capitalize on hot trends, the company's future is a roadmap to nowhere. Save yourself the agony and steer clear of this sinking ship disguised as a workplace.

Ventajas

I'll start by saying Sourcegraph is not a fit for everyone. The people I've seen thrive here are self-starters who enjoy high-agency, scrappy environments and can work through ambiguity. - Truly some of the best people I've ever worked with. - Employees are encouraged to share feedback and run with new ideas and processes with close to no red tape. I love the impact and ownership every person gets. - It is extremely, extremely fast-paced, which I personally love. - Pay is very competitive. - Best benefits I've ever seen.

Desventajas

- Great benefits, but no 401k match. - As I mentioned above, the pace and shifting priorities makes it a place that's not for everyone. You probably won't enjoy the company if you prefer a ton of structure.

Ventajas

- Fantastic Trips - Generous Parental Leave - Office Budget - Always have everything you need to do your job It’s a good job with what I still believe to be incredible tech. The fact that this behemoth of a software works as reliably and smoothly as possible is a testament to quite a few generations of talented and smart individuals. It’s not until you step away from using it as a daily driver that you really realize it’s like a Ferrari, they only make a few every so often and the engineers that work on them care about every single bolt.

Desventajas

- A bit of a roller coaster - Strong personalities - No roadmap for career you’re going to have to make one The cons come from this being a business that has to make money. It’s always been. Running a business takes incredible acumen and at times shrewd choices. With a step backward I think there was a lot of missteps here with handling finances and the optimism that came with low interest rates. Most devs don’t realize how this thing even works let alone how or why it will improve their productivity.
