Ventajas

Small company means opportunity to learn multiple facets of projects. Good Office location. Diverse staff. Flexible with vacation, doctor visits, etc... Paid for overtime.

Desventajas

NOTE - while many of the common threads below are common in the industry - they are worse enough at SIMCO to merit mention. Salaries are minimum competitive (average to below average). Promotions only happen at year-end regardless of merit. 80% 50+ at this point. Managers love to talk up their skill of previous experience but have significant difficulty completing intern level work when push come to shove. Firm is often sub-consultant, prime consultants/clients bully firm into last minute/unrealistic deadlines, management lets it "roll downhill" to junior staff who do bear the burden while managers reap rewards, so to say. While they frequently talk about growth, both by geography and subject matter, their actions are those of people who are comfortable in their little (ever shrinking) niche with every intention to finish the last 5-10 years of their career as is. Minimal opportunities to grow and advance, marketing team (1-2 people max) very secretive about projects meaning little opportunity for junior staff to learn and help find projects that would advance firm. Legal troubles have persisted for 2-3 years, very little billable work even though every monthly meeting over those 2-3 years said "everything will be fine once we do [insert form]." Managers frequently hire and place junior staff in wrong divisions/with in adequate skills/experience - then don't train them and wonder why they under perform or leave for better jobs.
