You are surrounded by dogs!

Desventajas

I worked at the Greensboro location and can only speak to my experience there, but it was incredibly unorganized and overfilled. All too often our rooms would be maxed out and beyond with dogs, to the point where every single crate had a dog in it at all times, and someone would have to be outside with ten dogs (plus another one in a crate) simply to keep the 1:10 human to dog ratio. Management seemed to be incapable of telling people we were at capacity, and would get angry if any of the playroom attendants tried to have dogs pulled for naps to get the room numbers down. Scheduling was a nightmare, especially if you weren't part of the main clique- favorites were definitely played here. I worked almost 2 weeks in a row without any days off more than once and would have to wait weeks to hear whether or not requested time off was approved, whereas other employees would be given requested days off within hours of requesting it. Upper management promoted people based off popularity, sometimes regardless of their ability to do the job they were supposed to. Anything that isn't done by the upper level staff is left to the playroom attendants to finish, regardless of whatever else they already need to do, which made cleaning at night an ordeal. We'd end up staying almost an hour or more past our shift time doing work meant to be done by others, and would then be criticized for how long we took to finish. In addition to cleaning our rooms and boarding kennels, we'd often be told to clean Enrichment's kennels, because some of the enrichment specialists would leave without doing any of their cleaning. The massive staff turnover rate meant that new people were in and out on what seemed like a daily basis, making it difficult to form a rapport with people. In addition, all these new people meant that we constantly had to teach people which dogs had certain issues, whether health or behavioral. Management would leave dogs who had shown severe behavioral issues towards other dogs in the rooms regardless of the added stress and safety concerns it caused both for dogs and employees. The pay is awful for the amount of work expected from playroom attendants, and it's due mainly to the fact that managers are only making $10.25 an hour- you can't pay your low level staff more than management.

Ventajas

Animals were mostly great, you could bond with them since there were so many regulars. Most coworkers were fun to work with.

Desventajas

Low pay, management/corporate allowed for animals who were too aggressive to stay despite multiple reports of them being unsafe, I would walk over 100 dogs by myself regularly early in the morning. Because of low pay, not enough staff and heavy workload, tasks would be haphazardly done (including cleaning, feeding, medicating, walking dogs, etc.) HEAVY turn over from the ground up.
