The weirdest thing that stuck with me about the Dubai office is how some employees will frame other muslim/middle eastern employees to try and get senior management to dislike or become afraid if them. The consistent theme throughout all departments and brands is that middle-easterns and muslims are seen as difficult people with an extremist mindset who will go to HR over any meaningless misunderstanding. This narrative is pushed by many non-muslim/non-arab employees in hopes of appearing closer or friendlier with senior management. Everything is motivated by bureaucracy and company politics. Therfore, these seemingly friendlier employees will receive better treatment and be selected for promotions in trusted positions. Senior management falls for these games every single time, its almost like they agree with these absurd claims.
