Ventajas

You have some say as what hours you can work . Benefits were good when compared to other retailers. Unused sick leave over 80 hours were paid as a bonus. (for hourly workers). I worked for the company from Nov 1994 until Jan 2007, when I left the country. During that time I worked as a part-time sales associate, full time sales associate, Manager in Training, Store Manager, and an Assistant Store Manager.

Desventajas

Pay and benefits. Every year pay went down for everyone. Commission and SPIFFS were changed for the companies benefit and not the employees benefit. Long hours for store managers as they were not paid overtime. Six day work week were the norm for store managers. Empoyees were scheduled less then 40 hours, so that there would be no overtime in case of staying late. Training was not really paid, as employees are making money only when selling. Sale floor hours were cut so that inventory could be conducted and no overtime be paid out. When I was an Assistant Store Manager, the pay, on paper, was great, only if you were allowed to sell. $17,000 a year doesn't buy anything in a big city, as I was only allowed to do stre operations. Assistant Manager were allowed overtime, which did help. In 2006 the company combined both the Assistant Store Manager and Manager in Training. With a pay cut, although the company claimed that it was a pay increase.
