Ventajas

Very diverse firm in terms of nature of services and size of clients. Services include everything from simple bookkeeping, accounting, basic tax preparation all the way through reviews, audits, retirement plans, forensic accounting, valuations, into international taxation (numerous tax attorneys on staff) estates and trusts. Clients range from momma pappa all the way through national and international companies, public companies with emphasis on financial services, broker dealers, internet, advertising companies, real estate, manufacturing and wholesale companies and service companies.

Desventajas

Better and more positive communication needed among different levels of staff, managers and partners. Quality review department very serious group and sometimes can be over zealous for perfection.

Ventajas

The hours aren't as strenuous as many other firms. Budgets are not strictly enforced so if an audit takes 9 months to be issued it's not that big of a deal. The administrative staff are very pleasant with good attitudes and are very outgoing and helpful. Early Fridays during the summer are a nice touch. Several partners are very pleasant and personable.

Desventajas

There are very few staff members available to senior staff. The reason for this is junior staff realize they are not receiving any relevant training because some of people in charge of training are not even licensed CPAs and struggle with even their own projects. Once the junior staff leave the firm and start somewhere else, they realize they now have to "catch up" in order to remain competitive. Most managers are not licensed CPAs either. When approached with questions they don't know the answer to, they become defensive. Because they are also in charge of who is scheduled on engagements, they are able to starve employees out of hours, which reflects poorly on the employees final review. There is an overwhelmingly strong rivalry in the staff room and it results in a hostile work environment. If an employee manages to make it into "the group" they are on easy street. Otherwise, they face an uphill battle each day they report to the office.
