Also a great place to develop deadline writing skills and news judgement. Staffers are encouraged to grow their own skills and develop ambitious stories. Writers and editors have good relationships. Very thoughtful editorial team, and talented editors who really care about accuracy, and framing. Great colleagues who deeply care about one another and the work. Exciting coverage areas mean that coverage feels meaningful and the newsroom has expanded opportunities for more feature writing and reporting. There is a feeling that Inverse is striving to become better and better, which makes for an exciting atmosphere. Congenial newsroom environment fosters close ties. Alumni often keep in touch. Unlimited PTO, and requests for days off are typically honored.
Desventajas
Relentless pace of production – not unlike other places in digital media, but a contributor to staff turnover. Editorial and traffic goals can occasionally become conflated. Well-intentioned managers often have to deal with conflicting instructions from upper management. Little room advancement for part-time writers who often work longer hours than promised. The same leeway afforded to full timers to pursue bigger projects is not always given to part time writers. Unclear pathways to advancement that sometimes feel like they're made on the fly for both staffers and part timers.
