Always there if need extra income. Great place to start your tax career. Good place to learn and grow tax knowledge

Desventajas

Being a leader, you're expected to fill in for preparers. Since retention is so bad you have to basically be a preparer and leader at all times because there are massive coverage holes. Since it's salary, you don't get any comp outside of the set number of returns you can earn comp for. For my stores it was 46. So anything passed that is free labor basically. You can try to recruit but you do not get paid outside of tax season so your efforts will be unpaid. Tax prepares are super unpaid and end up attempting to steal each other's clients which grows a hostile environment. Since it takes a whole year to hire new preparers the tax preparers are basically untouchable when it comes to behavior. They can honestly say and do whatever they want and not get fired because coverage is so bad there's no one to replace them. So you as a leader have to accommodate trivial arguments and demands. You have three separate stores to worry about.

Ventajas

Flexible availability. Path for promotion is obvious and quantified.

Desventajas

Bonus/commission it is based on level and sales so is low in states without a state tax form. Hourly wage comes out of bonus. Pressure to sell items that don't add to your commission. They push customer surveys but you can be penalized if someone complains about the company, price, amount of emails etc even though you have no control. Some employees are frustratingly low quality and you will spend time helping or fixing their mistakes time that works against your commission. You are expected to answer phones, make appointments, scan, print, take money, help new comers all while maximizing returns. If you take over someone's client and find a mistake you are expected to work against your commission to file amendments peace of mind claims etc.
