Ventajas
There's work to do if you need it. The company maintains a strict culture of safety which has its ups and downs, but for the most part, they were happy to provide PPE and other safety equipment within reason. Mechanics are typically friendly amongst themselves.
Desventajas
Strong union culture creates an "upstairs vs downstairs" mentality...A lot of different bosses to answer to. There's a guy who's main job is to monitor your dash cam, and email you screen grabs when he's displeased with his observations. I was issued a service vehicle in rough condition. While I did everything within my power to keep it clean and running, management was uninterested in purchasing parts to repair....often went into my own pocket to make "band-aid" repairs to my truck, I.E. a power inverter (to charge company laptop) or for tool box drawers. Saturdays weren't optional for CVA guys, it was an expectation. Work was scheduled poorly and on a last-minute basis, which made my job overwhelmingly difficult. I had VERY poor experiences with certain HR representatives.
