Inclusive, progressive, relaxed culture. The ecology team exude genuine passion, enthusiasm and knowledge for/of the natural environment and all share the ultimate goal of enhancing, restoring and protecting it to the best of their ability. They are a really awesome group of people to work with. The variety of the work is also a massive pro, different projects one week to the next. One week you'll be conducting fish surveys on a beautiful chalk stream, the next you could be doing a water vole survey or seine netting a huge lake!

The main one would have to be the large amount of driving/travelling we have to do different sites/projects. We operate across the country but are based in the south, this can result in a lot of very early starts/late finishes with a lot of driving in between. We also stay away a lot which is nice when it's all confirmed/booked in advance with due time to prepare, but due to the fluidity of the work, things can change at the drop of a hat and you may be suddenly staying away for a week on very short notice.

The headline of my review says it all! An incredibly friendly company who made me feel welcome from my very first day. Everyone is like-minded but also with individual specific interests so there will always be something to talk about and learn. The passion from each team member for their job and the sector is obvious which I think is what contributes to the atmosphere created within the company - people doing what they love are happy people! The company have mastered a very high level of professionalism but also manage to strike the right balance with being laid back, approachable and informal when the time is right and appropriate. This creates the welcoming atmosphere that has made me feel so at home and happy in my short time with Five Rivers.

Negative points about Five Rivers as a company are difficult to think of! For my role, the only downside is the amount of driving required however this comes with the role and is something that I expected so is not a negative against the company. Five Rivers do all they can to ensure employee safety in this regard.
