Ventajas
Great potential, antiquated management style- typical of a privately held business. Nice people, helpful co-workers, company outings, nice work area- office, technology, etc...
Desventajas
Conflicting management styles, HR circumvents managers when they are in the field, punish employees for trying to follow their manager’s directions. Apparently HR has too much time on their hands. I was going through a very difficult time when I took this position, and my manager allowed me to arrive a few minutes early so I could pick up my kids from school, and return to work and not lose any hours. When my manager was in the field (which was most of the time), HR said they were in charge. My manager told me to ignore HR and do as they said. I was caught in the middle. I did a great job, my work was excellent, and was told that often. When HR found out I was following my manager’s directions, they had a meltdown, went to the VP and recommended I be fired. When I returned to pick up my personal affects, HR towered over me and was so venomous, at one point I was certain she was going to hit me. Have NO idea what this person’s problem was. If I hadn’t been in such a difficult place in my personal life at the time (concern for my safety and my kids), I would have filed a formal complaint. This was prior to 2014, but I felt I needed to make the company aware and anyone else who plans to work at the HQ. This role was a return to work after being with my children as a housewife. I have extensive upper management experience and this was just an entry level position to pay the bills. I have never experienced such unprofessional conduct in a manager on any level.
