Ventajas
Farm Rio provides a very generous uniform allotment. The clothes are beautiful and mostly sustainable. There were a few amazing associates who were great to work.
Desventajas
When I first applied to Farm Rio. I went through an extensive amount of interviews to make sure I was the right fit for the company and vice versa. Farm Rio stressed the idea of work-life balance but that was far from it. They also stressed how they value the input of their store managers and were looking for ways to improve the company's morale through strong leadership but that was far from the truth. Farm Rio is the worst company that I’ve ever worked for. They don’t train their employees; I had to train myself and learn through my senior managers. They are not looking to improve the conditions of the workplace because they are stuck on the idea that the way they do things in Brazil will work here in America. They don’t understand their demographic and are not willing to change. When I first started, they didn’t have a store manager for over 8 months (that should have been a red flag) therefore their current workers were overworked and underpaid which created animosity towards whoever they employed as their new leader. The senior employees were disgruntled with the ways they run the store and expressed that they were not valued as employees. Furthermore, don’t expect to receive constructive feedback or have any support in the areas in which you need to improve. There aren’t any reviews in place to measure your performance. There aren’t any actions in place to develop their employees. It was like a free-for-all, there isn’t any structure and when you try to make changes, you are met with “this is the way we do things here”. KPIs and store goals are not measured by the previous year or SMART goals but are based on guestimation on what they think should be done that month. Do not waste your time on this company. The stock room was a disaster waiting to happen. Everything I mean everything was folded from maxi dresses, blouses, skirts, jackets, etc, and everything was folded on top of each other which was not conducive to the work environment. The customers had to wait a long time to receive their items because the associates had to go through everything just to find the styles and sizes they were looking for. And when I brought up this issue to have everything hung as well as keeping the styles together to create a seamless workflow for the staff, I was met with “that’s how they do it in Brazil and they don’t have a problem with it”.Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. They have so much potential to grow their team and their company but this will not happen until they have a clear goal of what they actually want to achieve. I was very excited to work for this company because their mission and goal truly align with mine but it was all a facade.
