Ventajas
Great place to get your feet wet, learn the ins and outs of the selling industry. They give you a ton of responsibility and you learn how to manage your day effectively. Laid back work environment. Excellent job security. Multiple opportunities to travel all over the country for trade shows, customer site visits, etc. More importantly this place lets you know what kind of person you are with the freedom that they give you. You get to carve out more or less exactly what you want to get out of your time working there. Your personal growth is in your hands.
Desventajas
For all the work you do you are not compensated correctly for it. Commissions are withheld in case the company falls on it's face in the future quarters. No real review or salary negotiations for pay raises. Management has been there for a while and aren't going anywhere and therefore the only career advancement you will have is in the position you take after you leave this place. Most people there think it isn't worth making more money somewhere else because they know there's really nothing they can do to get fired and think" Do I really want a change of scenery where I won't have this much fun and be accountable for my work?" The only people there that are making their money are the ones who are in management positions which explains the incredibly high turnover rate the company has over the past five years at the lower level positions in the company.
