Ventajas
It's a small team so you're given a lot of responsibility and independence. I worked there full time for two years in an entry-level role but was quickly entrusted with more senior tasks.
It was a fantastic first job in publishing where I participated in every part of the traditional publishing process, and really developed a solid foundation in admin, editorial and marketing.
The publisher is passionate, flexible and all-round a great employer.
As it's a small indie press, you're limited in resources but you have a tangible impact. It's a home-based office (office cat and dog included) so there's a more relaxed atmosphere while still very professional.
Desventajas
It's a small indie press, so pay is very low, but that's the publishing industry in general.
Initially my role was voluntary, so wouldn't recommend applying unless you're able to work for minimum three months - this isn't unique to the press, this is the indie publishing scene in general.
Entry-level role but independence and passion is a must - wouldn't recommend applying unless you're genuinely interested in the publishing industry and want to work in-office. It's very rewarding and the experience is great, especially as the press is growing/gaining traction, but be prepared.
