Ventajas
I have to preface this review by saying that the people who work at Bookspan are some of the most talented, friendly and qualified coworkers I have ever encountered. This is an incredible group of people.
Desventajas
The CEO, John Lippman, and the COO, Blake Orlandi, are running this company into the ground. They micromanage everything until the creative spark is completely gone and create a general vibe that they do not respect your professional background and certainly do not trust you enough to do your job without their overseeing every move. This mentality makes doing even the smallest of tasks be much more difficult and time consuming than it should. Similarly, they do not respect their employees to loop them in on major company structural changes and cultivate an air of secrecy. This contributes to their distrust in everyone, most significantly their employees. They have completely tarnished the once fabulous workplace morale that this company had, and have made it miserable to work for them day to day. The turnaround rate here is REALLY high. The worst part is, then they don't rehire to fill those vacant positions because they assume that everyone else can cover those jobs. If you are not working 12 hour days (and are on call at all hours-- weekends and vacation days included), then you're not working hard enough or long enough and therefore can handle more work. I have never seen a company with such little respect for their employees. It is disheartening. Don’t be fooled by the "start-up mentality" facade— working at Bookspan is incredibly anxiety inducing. The turnaround rate here is really high for good reason.
