Director sits in the middle of the office like a headmaster and will alienate you if you hand your notice in. Working from home under normal conditions is seen as an insult and generally forbidden. Head of joinery only likes to talk to office staff if he thinks they have made a mistake, otherwise he’s too busy. If you’re good at your job you’re allowed to send abusive emails, make members of staff cry and then they will reward you with a promotion to managing a department that you’re not qualified or have to knowledge to do so.
