Ventajas
Co-workers are fantastic. A 'we're in this together' kind of atmosphere. Good benefits. Free parking. Science is excellent.
Desventajas
Senior management tends to have a knee-jerk panicked reaction to one bad quarter and makes demands for results that aren't attainable. They go on and on about how much they appreciate and respect their employees only to lay off large numbers right before Christmas - 2 years in a row. The ridiculous part is that the executive officers make so much that a small collective paycut on their part would easily make up the payroll for those employees laid off. The atmosphere among the lowly folk is depressed and tense as a result. I don't think senior management cares about what the employees do, only what amount of cash we can make for them. Promotions are rare (to be fair, dependent upon department). I had coworkers in marketing who'd been there 15-20 years and only had 1 or 2 promotions.
