Ventajas
If you're a straight while male looking to use that to your best advantage, this place will be perfect for you! You'll do ok as a straight white female if you're really cute, just be sure to smile a lot. You can make some of your best friends crying in the stairwell.
Desventajas
Working at BR was almost unexplainable. Like an emotionally abusive relationship, it looks good on the outside, with the fancy building, but once inside it's toxic. Management talks about being progressive and the importance of female leaders, but still operate as a boys club. For example, they fund costumes for the concierge (who is by all accounts a lovely woman excellent at her job) who wears skin tight highly revealing costumes for every holiday (real or made up). They say "Everyone loves this! It's great for morale!" But are not aware enough to realize that this is really objectifying, and it makes many of us uncomfortable. Women’s appearance being addressed as part of their role is so prevalent. Women are regularly told in feedback they don't smile enough. (Yet I'm sure the cantankerous old men working there for ages are never told to smile. ) Really good people are let go for being outside of BR’s box, but management gives racists, sexists, and sexual harassers the benefit of the doubt...you know, the old 9 strikes and you’re out. The old “but but he didn’t mean it, he was just joking” excuses. Beware, that coffee and river view they give you in your interview aren’t worth the slow crushing of your soul.
