let me first start off and say I have had two interviews with Lululemon. One in New Jersey and one in California. The first interview I did was in New Jersey, it was me and two other girls that were Caucasian and clearly younger than me, yes, I was the ONLY black girl there, even the manager was caucasion. The manager seemed very sweet but I feel when she first got one look at me, I felt she felt shocked that I was black. I had never interviewed at Lululemon before but I assumed since I was a dancer and a big yoga lover, that I would get the job and I was great candidate for it with my amazing resume and my background with the hobby's I was involved in, I was a bit nervous and I felt I did not answer the questions the way I wanted to, I felt uncomfortable and the other two girls seemed more knowlegable in the Lululemon wear than me when she asked us to pick an item from the store and explain why we chose it. I chose a yoga mat while the other two girls chose a piece of clothing. overall, I felt I was a better candidate than the other two girls and I felt my resume and experience was much better as well too, also during the interview, the employees started coming in the store and they all looked mean and of course they were all Caucasian which made me feel even more uncomfortable and like I didn't belong there. I solely feel I was not hired based on my skin color and I heard that Lululemon wont hire you unless you're Caucasian and athletic, they have some employees who I don't even know why thy were hired with their boring personalities and there rude, judging faces, I want to work for Lululemon but I thought they were looking based on outgoing personalities and strong abilities to actually want to work but instead I feel they don't like people like that, I feel they like people that are all the same. you guys need to get some ethnic people in the store instead of all white and like a Chinese person. I feel they come off a bit racist against people who don't look and act the same as them. the second one I went to was the one in California when I moved out there for a couple months, there were two interviewers for a Lululemon but the store was not open yet, the girl interviewer did all the talking and the Chinese guy just sat and listened I guess, it was me and two other girls, I felt more comfortable in this interview because there was one black girl there and one Caucasian girl, I feel we were all nervous but we all answered the questions to the best of our ability and I feel I did a little better in the second interview I did. however, I guess I didn't do as well as I thought because at the end of the week I got a rejection letter and I did not understand why, again, im assuming is because they don't want black people working in the store and I even emailed the interviewer back asking why didn't I get the job and she never responded which I felt was unprofessional because she could have at least told me why I didn't get the position, mind you she stated they were looking to hire a lot of people for the new store so thats another reason why I didn't understand why I didn't get a invitation back. with my resume and experience I just don't understand what this company is looking for in an employee, I feel that I have the qualities Lululemon claim they want in there employees and I have the spirit and experience but they just will not hire me. is it because im black and im not an athlete. I really don't know however, I have another interview coming up with them in New Jersey and I don't know how I feel about it or is it even worth going again for the third time to answer the questions to the best of my ability and be a good candidate then to get rejected for the color of my skin and having course hair. Lululemon please do better with who you guys hire! black people can be professional too! and I never see black managers in these stores.
