      Entrevista

I got to the final round of this role. The first round with an application, then a unit plan, group interview and then a final interview. The unit plan task took me over 10 hours of work, which I found really unnecessary for an interview. It felt almost like free labor for them. The group interview spent some time looking at my work with some helpful feedback but did not make the experience worthwhile. I was invited to a final interview which went overall okay but I was asked a really confusing question. I knew where they where get it but it was framed in a long-winded and confusing way. Anyways, after 4 round of interviews, they didn't contact me to let me know if I got an offer or didn't. I didn't reach because I already had another offer. However, I find it really improper to go through 4 rounds of interview (one being an extended performance task) to not get a notification about the final decision. It reflects poorly on the management of the hiring process and ultimately, I felt it would not have been a good fit.

I submitted a resume and cover letter for the position and was then contacted and asked to provide a curriculum sample and review a curriculum sample. However, the sample I was asked to write consisted of an entire unit, research on the obscure topic, plus all activities to be used, and assessments. I created multiple documents and wrote 4,000 words for the curriculum sample. I was told I would receive information about the next stage of hiring within two weeks. Two weeks later I received a form email telling me the position had been filled. To ask applicants to spend dozen of hours on a work sample is inappropriate and shows a lack of consideration for applicant's time and management's inability to make hiring decisions with industry standard work samples. From this experience, I learned that a company who asks you to do 30 hours of unpaid labor is not a company I want to join.

Submit resume and cover letter, complete performance task, virtual panel interview. As previously mentioned, the performance task was extremely time-consuming, and in retrospect, I feel that it was exploitative. It involved designing a 6-module unit plan (two modules had to be created in full, while the other four just needed a basic plan), as well as giving extremely thorough feedback on an already-created unit. I spent essentially my entire Easter working on the performance task, and that was in addition to hours and hours of planning that had gone into it earlier in the week. Normally I like performance tasks, since they're lower pressure than interviews and I feel confident that I can excel at them, but this was ridiculous. I'd be really interested to know what inquirED is doing with the products of this free labor...it sure sounds like they've gotten a lot of free plans and ideas.
