      I will start by saying that I do not live in the area so I understand my experience may be different than other candidates and that I had pleasant conversations with everyone I spoke to. I initially received an email from iCIMS that appeared automated in nature to invite me for a phone interview with the recruiter, but the email was addressed from a different employee than the recruiter. After the initial phone interview, I received another templated email from yet a different employee to schedule a phone interview with the hiring manager. Following this phone interview, I had very positive conversations with a few members of the team, and I was under the impression that I would be asked to come in for a final round. After weeks of little to no contact due to vacations, I came to realize that the recruiter only works with iCIMS part-time and no one else had the authority to move my application forward. All in all, my frustrations with this interview process had little to do with the interviews themselves and everything to do with a lack of communication and a poor candidate experience. From beginning to end, it was very unclear to me who my point of contact was and when I finally understood who that was, I did not have her contact information (i.e. email address) and there were multiple business days when I could not reach her unbeknownst to me. While I do not believe this is an ideal structure, there were measures that could be taken to compensate by providing me with increased transparency (i.e. being proactive about updates). Given iCIMS is a recruiting software company, I found it disheartening that communication was such a struggle to the point that it reduced my excitement for the open position.
