Entrevista
I applied online for a discipline engineering role and received an email invitation for a face-to-face interview about two weeks after the job advert expired. The interviewing panel consisted of a manager and two leads for the project and the entire session was very mechanical where they read questions off a template. There were three behavioural/motivational questions followed by three simple technical questions. No attempt was made to delve deeper into relevant experiences and the three interviewers seemed disinterested. It’s been more than 6 weeks without any updates from bp even though I was told at the end of the interview that I will receive feedback in 2 weeks. There’s no response from their recruiter despite sending a follow up email once at the 2-week mark and another after 3 weeks. I was pretty much ghosted by bp. I find it odd that the interview did not include any HR rep or recruiter to minimise interviewer bias. I’ve interviewed with four major tier-1 oil and gas operators (bp included) throughout my career, was successful for three and worked for two. This negative experience demonstrates why they are well behind other major global operators. I guess bp is still considered as a tier 1 oil and gas operator because of their profits. The way they treat their employees (especially how they handled their refinery closure), their salary bands and the quality of people they hire are nowhere near the likes of Chevron, Shell, Exxon and Woodside. For those already working for other operators, I would advise not wasting your time with bp in Australia. To bp employees, I suggest brushing up on your organisation’s beliefs, especially “Care for Others”.
Pros;
- i was able to do it virtually
- the interviewer had interest in my responses and provided a calm and not stressful environment
Cons:
- heard positive feedback, but didn't follow up

an interview covering me, the company, things I like, things they wamt, who I am, who they are, what's going on. how could this happen to me, I've made my mistakes, got nowhere to run, but life goes on as I'm fading away.
It was a 5 stage interview process.
Following online application, One Online test, value based interview, technical interview specific to discipline applied for,and assessment centre in person. Overall took about four to five months.
