What is correlation? What is linear regression?

Correlation is a statistical measure that assesses the relationship between two variables. The correlation coefficient is bounded, that is can only be -1, 0 or +1. A negative correlation, -1, indicates that the two variables move the opposite direction. A positive correlation, +1 indicates that the two variables move in the same direction. A good example is height and age. A 0 correlation coefficient means that the two variables move independently.
