Panel interview included several questions to gauge understanding of firewalls and network security, as well as a fill-in-the-blank worksheet to test basic understanding of networks. I was immediately invited to come back the following week for a paid half-day trial day. During this trial day, the head trainer took me through a lesson to to further gauge my understanding of networks.
The expectation with this position is a thorough understanding of how computers communicate over wide area and local networks. You need to be very comfortable with IP addressing, subnets, and network devices prior to the trial day in order to be successful.
The training offered at this company is the best that I have seen so far. However, be aware that the starting pay is well below market and vacation time is only 1 week for the first two years. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with no degree or professional experience but excellent IT knowledge that is looking for a full time job to gain experience.
