After applying to the role via LinkedIn, a coordinator in the recruitment team approached me to organise a phone interview with an internal recruiter. The person interviewing me was 15 minutes late for the call, which I only received after emailing to see if it was still happening as I only had a 30 minute window! During the call it was clear that I didn't have a sufficient level of experience for the position, but the recruiter expressed that she felt I had a good attitude and soft skills and said and they'd be in touch with feedback and next steps. I never received an email or phone call to give me feedback from the interview or to confirm that I hadn't made it to the next stage. I did email the coordinator to chase this up but had no response. I have no doubt that Wayfair is a great company and probably has a fantastic working environment, however their internal recruitment team seem to operate in a pretty unprofessional way. As the face of the business to prospective candidates, I imagine this will have a negative effect somewhere down the line. Presumably the candidates who have successful interviews get better treatment, but how do they know someone might not be an interesting match for another role at a later date? An email to inform a candidate as to the outcome of their interview is a common courtesy!
