I applied online. The job post got me curious and while I would be a candidate not in the area I decided to take a chance and at least learn more about the field. The response and timelines were all what was stated and the process was fairly transparent (ie, one interviewer had to be away after our chat and both she and the other interviewer told me this separately). I had one screening interview and one interview with the direct team.
Both were pleasant conversations about the organization, the field, the job, the team's operation, the fields the position would focus on, etc. Small talk about the weather, which is a consideration (while the position was listed as hybrid, they were also speaking with remote candidates who might have to occasionally travel). No curveballs, nothing out of left field. I did not advance after the 2nd interview but again, the team was prompt in letting me know (and it followed the timeline laid out to me).
Although I would not say I felt passionately about the position the interviews, I would have said yes if there was any further advancement (there are some reviews here that make me pause though, and I did have some hesitation after hearing a little more about the position's history). Again, no red flags or warning bells and if this had gotten as far as an offer, I would have certainly given it thought. Ultimately, the experience was fine and the people I spoke to seemed very nice.
