      Entrevista

The interview process was pretty straight forward. Only interviewed with one account manager and briefly walked her through my portfolio. Later I found out she walked the CD through my work and I was later offered the position as a contractor.

      Entrevista

I applied for the position at the end of October and received an email back exactly one month after asking if I would be available for a phone screening to discuss my background. A week after my initial phone screening I received an email from the Senior Manager asking to come in for an in-person interview and to bring my best five portfolio pieces and be ready to discuss them. I interviewed with two people, however one of them had to leave as soon as I got there so he video chatted with me and the other interviewer as he was driving home. That seemed a little weird to me and was a little difficult to show him my portfolio since I had to hold it up to the camera. The interviewer in the room with me asked quite a few questions, some I was not prepared for. I felt I stumbled on half the questions so please, whoever is reading this do your Verizon homework before going into the interview. After thinking I bombed alas two weeks later I get another email from the Marketing Director asking to come in for a second interview. The date they scheduled the second interview was the day I was flying home for the holidays (it is mid December at this point). However they were very generous enough to reschedule the interview until after I arrived home and then we would do a video chat. This second interview was a one on one video chat conference with the Marketing Director who was very nice and really enjoyed my work. About two days after that I received an email from the Senior Manager again asking for references because they were about to finalize their decision. I didn't hear back from them in two weeks so I decided to send a follow up email to see how the process was going since it's now January. The Senior Manager was very quick to reply and said they were finalizing some new structure they have which is why it was taking so long, and that I would hear back from HR for a final interview within a week. HR did in fact call me a week later and she asked some more questions about my working method and how I handle details of projects. She also asked to give me an example of a time I went above and beyond expectations on a project. These types of questions I was not expecting from HR and it through me off. I honestly thought this third interview was to tell me I got the position and to talk salary. She said this interview was just mainly to see if I would be a good fit for Verizon. Later that day I actually got an email from the hiring recruiter I had my original phone screening with in November. She wanted to schedule a phone call with me the following day. At this point I'm crossing my fingers that this is the last step since this process has been extremely long. And indeed this phone call was to tell me I was hired and to give me salary and benefits information. Three months in and it's official, I am now a designer for Verizon. It was a long process however it was well worth it and an overall good experience. Everyone I talked with was very nice and flexible to work with. They're even letting me choose the computer I want with all the hardware I need and they will buy it for me. How nice is that?! Such a wonderful company to work for, I can see that they really want you to succeed. Just be prepared for some intense questions as that, in my opinion, was the only part of the interviewing process that was the most difficult.
