vanguard had a webcast one day on working for vanguard which allowed you to talk with recruiters from vanguard -- this was a rapid interview...only consisted of 7 rapid minutes. After speaking with the recruiter, he asked for my resume then we scheduled a time to speak over the phone. Spoke with him for about 30 minutes exactly, he said he wanted to get me up to the Scottsdale location to have an in-person interview. I drove to Scottsdale, the first part consisted of a presentation given by a current Vanguard employee. the second half was the actual interview -- this consisted of two different parts: the first part was your standard interview, asking behavioral questions (very standard interview questions)...the second part was a role-playing exercise...this was by far the most difficult part...you are given a story of a girl who is calling vanguard with her investing questions...you are also given a second piece of paper that has vanguards policies and procedures on investing...you are then given 15 minutes alone to read both the story AND the page that has vanguards policies and procedures...then two interviewers come in and pretend they are the girl in the story and you are the vanguard representative. Basically, what it comes down to is you have to give the girl the correct information on the questions she is asking having read the vanguard policies and procedures..to make matters more difficult they ALSO throw 2 different things at you..these are: the girl is very short on time and in a hurry AND her mom just died....this is obviously (my guess) intended to see if you treat the situation with compassion and empathy...
