Short in person interview after an over the phone interview, received a tour of the building during the interview. Process was over after about 2 weeks and I heard back that I was declined
very professional interview everyone was really nice and informative, i really enjoyed this interview and everyone i met was down to earth as if i knew them already. all my questions were answered and i felt very comfortable here. unfortunately i was not chosen , but unlike many employers this employer actually did get back to me to let me know and when i asked what the determining factor was to not being chosen , they actually did honestly let me know. which was very much appreciated and respected.

Deer Creek Animal Hospital VCA. This position was the lowest paying Veterinary Assistant position I have seen in indeed which lead me to believe that they would be more than open to candidates that are just getting started in the field but I seem to have been proved wrong. I began this interview process almost 1 month ago when the hiring manager Ashley McEachron reached out to me via indeed to set up a phone screening for the following morning. After confirming times, I woke up prepared for our call at was left waiting by the phone as our interview time came and went. I even messaged her on indeed to ask if it was still happening thinking it was an honest mistake. This was on May 8th and by May 12th I still had not heard back. I followed up one more time, calling the hospital and leaving a message relaying our lapse in communication. Ashley finally replied on the 13th apologising and called me out of the blue later that day to have an impromptu phone screening. All went well and we set up an in person interview and shadow shift for the 15th. I came well prepared, made the long drive, and the interview went well! I left feeling confident and enjoyed meeting the other staff members and seeing their daily work flow. Ashley gave me her card and told me to email her to express my continued interest in the role which is what I did the following morning along with a few questions regarding growth opportunities and company culture. Seeing as it was a Friday I figured I’d hear back the following week but even by the next Friday it was radio silence. I sent a second follow up email inquiring about the hiring timeline and when I can expect to hear back by. It is now the following Tuesday, the 26th, and nothing. You would think ghosting me once was enough but to do it twice is quite telling of the lack of regard for the time and effort candidates are putting into this opportunity which is not being reciprocated by management. I have been offered two seperate vet assistant positions at higher paying clinics with focus on growth opportunities and positive company culture all with the same entry level experience I had when applying for this job. This process has been a learning experience but more than that has been an all in waste of time and effort unfortunately. I highly recommend management to have a greater focus on communication and respect because currently they are lacking.
