      Solicitud

Solicité el puesto a través de la recomendación de un empleado. El proceso duró 3 meses. Acudí a una entrevista en UrbanDaddy (New York, NY) en jul 2016

      Entrevista

A previous employee submitted my application which was very encouraging and seemed like an encouraging sign. The following is an in depth account of the interview process: The first interview was over the phone and very conversational. I felt like I was chatting with a friend which was really nice. Basic questions about my work history and the role. I was told I would hear back within 2 weeks. I reached out after two weeks to be told that they needed more time. 2 more weeks passed and I finally heard back. The next step was a Skype interview that I made time for while on vacation because they were prickly about me being unavailable during the 3 day window they gave me. I was asked more in depth questions about processes I had improved upon in my last role and where I saw myself in 5 years. I then completed 2 take home tasks. The first I submitted with no issue but was asked to take a second pass at the second task. I appreciated the human approach that was taken when I had clearly missed some items on the second task. I felt like they wanted me to succeed and weren't just looking for any excuse to remove someone from the running. The next step was an invitation to a Skype interview with the COO of the company. In the same email, they asked me how quickly I could move out to NYC. With no context (or understanding of how quickly they needed someone since the process had been dragged on for close to 3 months) I said I could have a start date of 3 weeks after an offer was made but could definitely be there sooner if need be. They responded saying they were hoping I would have said I could be there sooner. Felt like I had been trapped without any knowledge of their expectations. The final Skype interview was really intense and I was asked pretty much rapid fire questions from the COO who barely looked up from my resume. I was able to understand a bit more about the culture at Urban Daddy and what this role would look like. I felt good after the interview was over and was told that I would hear back the following week. The following week came and went so I reached out on Friday to touch base. 2 minutes after my email had been sent, I got word back that I had not been selected. This felt, again, like a game I didn't know I was playing and they were waiting for me to reach out before telling me I didn't get the job. I responded asking for some feedback (as I had invested a lot of time and was ready to move to NYC for the company) and was not written a response. Overall the process was extremely drawn out for a position of this caliber which I took to be a good sign that they really cared about the quality of their employees. However, now that I have moved on and am interviewing with other companies, it just seems really unprofessional and inconsiderate to their candidates.
