      Entrevista de Front End Developer

      19 jun 2019
      Empleado anónimo
      Montreal, QC
      Oferta aceptada

      Entrevista fácil

      Solicitud

Solicité el puesto a través de un captador. El proceso duró 5 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Unity (Montreal, QC) en jun 2019

      Entrevista

I contacted a recruiter who posted on LinkedIn that Unity were looking for a front-end developer for cloud services. She set up a phone call for the next week. The phone call was a great introduction to the company, and gave me more infos on the position. I think the goal of that first interview was to make sure I would be a good candidate for the position, and make sure it really interested me. The discussion was really nice and convivial. After that discussion, I received a coding challenge that I could do at home. The task itself was really easy, but there was a lot of ways to accomplish the task, so I guess it gives them a good idea on how much you are motivated and if the way you code fits with what they want. Next step was a phone interview with a dev lead. The discussion focused on my experience and the projets I've worked on previously. There was some more technical questions, but nothing too complicated. I asked a lot of questions and did a lot of research on the company before the interview, and I think that helped. After that interview, the last step was the hardest, which was half a day at the office, doing multiple interviews with about 10 members of the team. Everyone was really nice and this motivated me even more to get the job. I really appreciated that the interviews were more about my experience and global programming questions instead of precise technical questions that are not really related to what I would do there.

What projects did you work on ? How does the state work in React ? What's the point of using a state management library ?

      Entrevista

The interview took place in four steps. I spoke with the recruiter about my background and interests. Then I had a chat with the hiring manager where they asked me some general javascript questions and talked more about working at Unity. After that I completed a technical test on codility which included three tasks; they were not difficult. At the end I met with the team and had multiple back-to-back interviews. I didn't get an offer at the end, apparently due to my lack of extensive experience. I find that peculiar because the technical questions were more on the junior side and it was clear on my resume that I was a junior. I wish I asked about the level of experience they were looking for so I didn't have to spend a month going from step to step and preparing for each one. The overall experience was good. My recruiter was great and supportive throughout the process, and the team was also welcoming and friendly.

The whole process took me almost 2 months, that in my opinion is quite long. In total it was 6 interviews and one code testing. All the process was clear and everything was really well explained.
