I applied to UMS through Instahyre and I got a call for HR within a week. He wanted to set up a telephonic interview call and I was ok with, I told him to send me an invitation as well, he said ok. Next day I got a call from him again saying your interview is scheduled at 6 PM, please be available. I said you were supposed to send me a google invitation for that interview he said I forgot to do that. I attended that interview call and it went really good. After 2 weeks I got a call from HR again and he said you have cleared your first of interview now you will have to solve assignment which we usually give it to everybody. I said ok and they sent me an assignment which I had to submit within 4 days. I did that as well. After that I got a call from HR again, he said you have cleared your coding assignment round as well. Now we want to schedule your another round of interview with a different person but that time I was quite busy so I asked them to schedule telephonic/skype round if possible which they agreed to easily. Luckily I cleared round that as well. 2 days Later I got a call from HR again saying we want to schedule your final face to face discussion with the director and for that, you will have to come to our office and it was scheduled on Friday. I said ok and he sent me an email this time for this final interview round. On Friday Morning, I got a call from HR again, he was saying that there might be some technical questions as well along with a discussion with the director so please prepared for that as well. I asked him that in the last call you mentioned that this is gonna be just discussion then what is it? He said even he is not sure but for safer side prepare for the technical questions as well. I went there and had one round with one technical person with simple questions, mainly he wanted to make sure I only wrote the coding assignment which I had submitted, one with HR about the expectations/culture etc. Then they said the director is not here, please wait for some time. I had to wait for him for around an hour. Then he came and he started asking telling me about the company and what he does? And started asking me to explain myself. And then we started discussing something technical, in the discussion itself he mentioned that writing the test cases is not worth because it just doubles the effort. I could not agree with him I told him the pros/cons of test cases about the quality aspects that a good product needs to have. It lasted for around 30 mins and then they said they will get back to me. 2 days later I got a mail from HR stating that "Unfortunately we won’t be able to advance you into the next round of interviews". I did not understand anything because in his previous mail he said your final face to face interview is scheduled and in the current email, he is saying advance you in next rounds. I sent him a mail for asking the feedback. As usual, he did not reply for 2 days and I sent him another mail on the 3rd day. On the next day, I got a mail from him saying "we have selected a candidate with better-suited skill sets for our requirement." I just feel that they don't want to hire anybody, they are just playing with the candidates expectations. Not a professional environment to work in, would not recommend to anybody.
