Their first interview is a phone interview, set up in advance via email. The HR person was simply a gatekeeper for a plethora of hiring managers. The position was still posted (and remained posted for at least a month after this interview).

There was a routine phone screen that asked to briefly expand on each previous position. The recruiter knew virtually nothing about the role that wasn't in the job description. Claimed to be open to candidates proactively reaching out during the process, but then didn't respond.
