Entrevista
Just terrible! 0 stars.
Summary: scheduled a full day of onsite interviews 2 weeks before. I took a vacation day to do it, then they send an update at 8:30pm the night before that there's only 1 round. I was so confused and couldn't reach anyone for an explanation.
There's no sincerity to hire, no follow-ups on the explanation nor rescheduling. This company is dead to me.
Here are more details:
1) The onsite interviews were scheduled and confirmed for about 2 weeks in advance. It was a full day of interview rounds, so I took a vacation day from my company in order to make a good impression. Then come 8:30pm the night before, I got an automated email stating that there is only 1 round of interview at 5pm instead of a full day of interview. I emailed back but did not receive an explanation. Summary: I wasted a vacation day (I could have used it to spend it with my family and friends on an actual vacation!) in hopes of conducting a full day of interviews but all cancelled but 1 of them last minute.
2) The interview was also not what I expected. Even though the recruiter said it will be a technical interview session and provided me a HackerRank link, the interviewer did not use it at all and just chatted about my prior experience. Worse, he picked on the work experience I just started this June (2021) for almost 30 min, even though I had extensive work experience in Bloomberg for 7.5 years (Yes, he'd rather talk about the role I barely had 5 months to get into rather than the rest of the 7.5 years). Then he proceeded to ask me very specific C++ questions in which I used over 4 years ago.

None! They didn't happen. Just terrible experience.
Opening the technical round, I was taken aback when they asked me to implement a thread-safe LRU cache, which I had just practiced on prachub.com during my prep. We spent a lot of time discussing different locking strategies, and I had to explain how to extend the cache for TTL-based eviction. It felt quite intense, and though I received an offer, I ultimately declined as the team dynamics didn’t seem like the right fit for me. The coding question was definitely a highlight, and I'm grateful for the targeted prep I had done.
First you have to do Hackerrank, which is doable but can be tricky. Then they like to screen your coding with leetcode like problems. After that, they start screening your design skills and general technical depth.

leetcode + design, tech deep dive, very similar to the Big Tech

Had 3 rounds of Technical Interviews which I cleared easily. Recruiter told me that there would be few behavioral interviews once the headcount freeze would be lifted. It has been more than a year now and even after several follow-ups haven't received any response from the company. It also appears that I am not alone and there are many others who have cleared interviews but were kept on hold due to unavailability of headcount. 2S needs to stop wasting precious time of candidates if they do not intend to hire.
