I applied for a position at Trinity Christian Academy after seeing their advertisements and visiting their website. I wanted to teach in a school with a religious environment, and Trinity looked like a positive nurturing place for faculty and students alike. I submitted my resume and was asked to come to the school for an interview with the administration. When I met for the interview, I was put through a series of rapid fire question where I felt uncomfortable and under a magnifying glass. My answers were not even evaluated before another probing question was asked. It made me feel as if I had offended before I even walked in. It was a high pressure, critical interaction that made me question if I wanted the position after all. I decided that I did not want to pursue the position after the interview due to the perceived environment and the disconnect between the philosophy that was advertised and what I experienced while on campus. Instruction space is very limited but I was told there are plans to expand into a new campus in the future. In sharing my experience with others, I have heard that the school is in the process of restructuring as a result of parent and student dissatisfaction with curriculum, causing some families to leave in the middle of the school year. This may be the cause of the tense interviewing environment.
