Salary provided by recruiter was wrong (provided for a US candidate, and not a CDN candidate, even after the USD to CAD conversion was considered). When this information was used to request a salary within the recruiter-provided range for the final interview, it was a non-starter. In all fairness, employees/employers did say that the company may pay less than competitors, but that is a relative statement, and it doesnt speak to a dollar-value. If that range have been verified between HR and Engineering early in this process, no one's time would have been wasted.
