Envié una solicitud electrónica. El proceso duró 6 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Transeo (Kansas City, MO) en may 2022

      Entrevista

This interview experience was really confusing. I had a total of 6 interviews with this company for this ONE position, and after the 6th interview, they ghosted me. From what I could tell, they really liked me and everything on my resume. I thought things were going well for the most part, despite there being SO many interviews. During the 6th and last interview, which was finally in-person (so the previous 5 were via Zoom), they had me print out examples of my work from my portfolio to bring to the interview... which I thought was very odd considering I previously had sent them my online portfolio that I spent tons of time creating so that I didn't have to print my work... but that's all I was prepared for when going into the 6th interview. After we reviewed my portfolio in the interview, they surprised me with a random mock test where I had to interview THEM about something I knew nothing about. As someone not working for the company, I don't know the ins and outs of how things work yet, but I had to interview them about an onboarding call (?) and then write up an email using the information I got in the interview. This was extremely difficult and honestly humiliating because I had no idea what questions to ask because I don't know what's previously been done or what they look for in an email to potential clients. I thought the test was really random and not a great assessment of my potential whatsoever. I felt like they were setting me up to fail, which was a huge red flag to get before I even have the job. Another big red flag is that they don't provide parking for any employees. Their building is in the heart of downtown KC, so you either have to fight for street parking, or pay to park in a somewhat nearby parking garage... where I spent $8 just for the 1 hour I was in the interview. So for a company being strict about not working remotely and HAVING to work in the office, I think it's awful they don't have some sort of parking situation figured out for the employees. Who can afford to spend $60+ a day on parking? Ridiculous. Yet another red flag was them alluding A LOT to how much work this position would be. I'm not afraid of working hard and making sure all my tasks get done timely, but they would heavily allude to long hours and working weekends. The way they phrased it was like they were hiding something about how much work there is to do. This copywriter position is brand new, and I can understand why there'd be so much work to jump into, but maybe they need to be hiring 2-3 copywriters for this location if it's going to be that grueling. The potential work/life balance seems nonexistent here. Furthermore, before this 6th interview, earlier in the week they asked for my job references, which I promptly emailed back with that information. On the day of my interview, they asked me again for my references... which I didn't understand why they didn't have them the first time, but I sent them a second time anyway. At the end of my 6th interview, I asked what the next steps in the process would be. They said I'm "getting towards the end of the interview process" and that they would be contacting my references VERY soon. This alone was very vague. They didn't say if my 6th interview would be the last or if there would be a 7th... just that they'd contact my references. They never did. I felt so embarrassed towards my references because I let them know ahead of time that they'd be getting a call very soon from Transeo just so they could be ready.... and they never called my references. I sent two follow-up emails to Transeo -- the first one being the day after my 6th interview to make sure they received my references (no response) and then the second one being a week later. I was very polite in asking how things were going, if they needed anything else from me, etc. No response. So not only did I waste a LOT of time with this company, having completed SIX INTERVIEWS with them, but they ended up ghosting me and humiliating me in the process. In the span of a month and a half of interviewing with them, so much wasted time. Thankfully I didn't hold my breath with them and interviewed with a different company and got a job within 2 weeks. Good riddance. I'm assuming they didn't fill this role yet because it's still active on this site, so I truly have no idea why I've been ghosted by the company. At least have the balls to email back saying you're going a different direction. Any response at all would've sufficed. I've waited 3 weeks to make this post just to give them extra time to respond with anything, but zero response in the last 3 weeks at all. I've been nothing but polite and understanding through the whole process, but this is really how they treat people. It's not worth working for this company. They're a startup and obviously don't have it figured out yet. Maybe in a couple of years. But for now in 2022, big yikes. The company is littered with red flags.
