This is my first ever job and as some people know, it's hard getting a first job especially when you're 17 and a senior in high school like I am. I'm also shy and timid when it comes to talking to any stranger, so just relax and stay calm. Anyways, my aunt was talking to the manager last week and found out that 7 people left the store and they were desperately looking for young people to work. She asked for an application for me and the manager seemed interested in meeting me. After filling out the application, I went in on Tuesday (yesterday) at about 3pm and handed the manager my application. She checked my availability and set up an interview for Wednesday (today) at 11am. I arrived 10 minutes early and walked around a bit and met 2 crew members- a man and a woman. I thought I would be having the interview with the manager but it was with the crew members. We walked to a nearby donut shop and had the interview there. The interview was very brief- I was only asked like 10-13 basic questions since I've never had any job experience before. Be honest when you answer! They didn't mind me saying that I've only been there about 3 times a few years ago, but my mom buys their products so I told them some of my favorites (which they asked me next anyways). They mentioned that working here requires excellent customer service and by excellent they mean greeting every customer with a nice smile and conversation. Not a scripted "Hi, how are you?" They want you to converse with them as if you've been friends for a while. At the end of the interview, they asked if I had any questions for them- I asked them how long they've been there and their views as employees on the company, which they seemed to have really liked! They said they would call me to say if I got the job or not. Luckily, I was sitting outside the donut shop with my aunt and cousin and the interviewer came back out, took me aside and offered me the position! I start next Tuesday and starting pay is $10.50 :).
