      Entrevista

I turned in an application to the store (Wilmington, NC), then about a week or so later I was called in for an interview. The interview (with two mates) was very casual and conversational. They asked me typical interview questions with some conversational questions thrown in. It was a good experience and they are always determined to make the interviewee as comfortable as possible. I forgot to ask questions during the interview, but once the interview was over I called the store back and asked the questions that I had forgotten to ask. They seemed delighted that I had called them, and they appreciated my interest, although I was afraid I wouldn't be called back in for another interview because I thought they would weed me out due to the fact that I hadn't asked any questions during the interview itself. Fortunately, the day after my first interview I was called in for my second interview, which was scheduled about a week later (I was going home for Easter break so I had to schedule it for after I came back). The second interview was with a crew member and the store manager, both who were very pleasant and kind, and I was asked relatively the same questions, in a conversational manner all the while. Before we wrapped up the interview the store manager mentioned that I was in the running with 6 other people for 2 to 3 open spots in their store. He said, "and I have to be honest with you, [the other applicants] all interviewed very well, too". I wasn't quite sure what to make of that statement. He then proceeded to say, we'll get in touch within a week, with a phone call either saying a) you're hired, b) you're not hired, or c) come in for a third interview". That Saturday, four days later, I called in and asked if any progress had been made. The mate said that I should hear from them by Tuesday and if not, then I should call. Tuesday arrived with no phone calls so I called them. I talked to the captain, who said that they were still looking over applicants, but that I was a "finalist" and they would be bringing me back in (whether for another interview or to be hired, I have no idea still). They said that I should hear by them that Friday. Friday came and still I had not been called. I was going to Trader Joe's with a friend to pick up some groceries that day anyways, so I figured that I might get lucky and run into the captain in the hopes of him mentioning any progress in their hiring process. Luckily enough, he saw me when I went in and was kind enough to explain that they were still behind on the process, and that I should hear from them by the following Wednesday. He was very kind an apologetic. On Wednesday with still no calls, I called them and they said they were still looking over other candidates, and that I should call back in three days. Update: I got a call today (Saturday, April 25th) and they offered me a job starting at $10.50 an hour!

I had 3 separate interviews. 1 was over the phone. 2 were in person. I never heard anything after the third interview. I called the store about a week later and they let me know they didn’t actually have any available positions. Really felt like they wasted my time.

Casual, took place outside of the store. First I had a phone call interview. Then another which was in-person with 2 of the mates in the store, and finally a third in-person with the captain of the store.

Different questions than I have experienced in past job interviews, but seem to be their traditional hiring questions. They want to make sure they are hiring sociable people more so than just someone that can do the job.
