I applied online for a department supervisor position and received a call the next day to come in for an interview. I was excited despite being overqualified for the entry level position as I wanted to get my foot in the door.
Right away when I arrived I knew something was amiss. I was told to pick out my favorite toy from childhood and go to a back room area. In this room were two tables with Lego on them and many chairs. Soon other people began to file in, most of them dressed slovenly, including one guy in a dirty sweatsuit and a girl with a "HIGH TILL I DIE" marijuana bracelet on.
Turns out this was a group interview for a seasonal part time position. Uh, ok? Not the position I applied for, but maybe I would get to that part after this? A woman came in and had us go around the table and introduce ourselves and explain why we picked the toy we brought to the room. A lot of the other people had answers like " because I did, I don't know". It was physically painful to listen to.
Next we divided into teams and built something from Legos. Apparently they are watching us to see how we interact and work together.
Out last activity was to talk to the person next to you and then speak to the group explaining why you think they would be a good person to hire.
After these activities we were called into a separate room for one on one interviews. The manager conducting these interviews was very rude. She reiterated that it was a temp seasonal job and seemed to have a management style that was all about intimidation, which was hilarious. After berating me about how important attendance was in her store she said she would "give me a chance" as a seasonal overnight stock person. And I was sent back to the original room. Anyone who was offered the job was sent back to the room. Based on the performance of the people in this room and their appearance at a job interview, it appeared the perquisite for getting the job was having open availability. If you had a clear schedule they hired you.
This was frustrating as the tasks they made us do for an hour seemed to have no bearing on if they hired someone or not. A complete waste of time.

It was fine. It was open interview so there were other people in attendance. Not much to it I guess. General Manager was pretty nice and respectful. Grade A personality

It was a group interview with 4 others in the room with me. Very laid back, all they had us do was introduce ourselves and tell what our favorite childhood toy was. After that, we had to interview the person next to us, and come up with our own question, which after each person read off the question asked, then their answer. Overall very easy and friendly.
