I recently had the opportunity to interview for a Frontend Engineer role at Toast Inc. Overall, the process was positive. The interviewers were friendly, knowledgeable, and made an effort to create a comfortable environment. The questions were thoughtfully curated, directly aligned with the role, and the technical assessments felt fair and relevant. However, there’s one major downside that left a sour taste after an otherwise smooth process: the lack of promised feedback. After being informed that I wasn’t selected, I requested feedback, which they themselves had offered. Unfortunately, even after a follow-up reminder to the recruiter, I never heard back. It’s disappointing to invest significant time in multiple interview stages and receive silence when it comes to constructive feedback. Toast’s team seems genuinely great, but I hope they can improve the post-interview process. Candidates invest their time and energy, and in return, a small gesture like follow-up feedback can go a long way.
