After my initial application was successful, I was offered a telephone interview. However please note that Threadneedle will send you the days they claim they will call you (for the telephone interview), but in actual fact they call you at their discretion (be prepared).
After the telephone interview I was asked to sit an online psychometric test that consisted of numerical and verbal testing. You are also told regardless of the outcome of the tests, you will still be able to attend the assessment centre the following week.
The assessment centre is a peculiar day whereby you are asked to sit a competency based style interview for 40 minutes by someone from an area of the firms choosing (i.e. you might want Distribution and get interviewed by the Investment team) and an additional 40 minute group activity. This is not a difficult assessment centre and I sort of struggled to see what the company gained from hosting such a short "assessment day".
In my experience, the next stage was handled completely unprofessionally. Everyone at my assessment day got given the same date to hear back from Threadneedle and find out the outcome. However LONG after a week had passed the company still had not been in contact. When I finally found out the outcome (four weeks later), the position I was going for was given to someone who had previous industry experience (not likely a coincidence). At this point the Threadneedle 2020 scheme, aimed at hiring away from the old boys network, I felt came into serious question.
Finally be aware throughout the process, the firm will want you to focus on their four key values. One of these values is "Respect", but in the final stage of recruitment process I felt the firm showed nothing but a lack of it.
